I debated for a while between buying a standalone functional cable machine or adding one to my rack, and I’m really glad I went with this option. Installation wasn’t too difficult, but plan on setting aside a full day and bringing some patience. Once everything was dialed in, the cables moved smoothly and the adjustability is great. Biggest bonus: it saves a ton of space since I didn’t have to squeeze another machine into the gym. Only regret is that I didn’t opt for the stack upgrade.

Amazing versatility

I think this is the most overlooked REP product for any rack… the Athena allows you to build out a 4 or 6 post the way you want without being beholden to a bunch of extra pulleys or weight stacks blocking valuable real estate. The 6 post is great if you want to leave a dedicated j cup spot for bench or standing barbell movements without interfering with your trolleys on the front

Professional Gym at Home

Extremely sturdy, stable, consistent. I juggle between a commercial gym and my home gym and it's always a tender moment to get back to my machine. It's better in every way. Installation was easy. Pulley system felt a bit stiff at first use but in no time it started working real fine.

Solid rack and cable system

I’ve used this system pretty hard for over a year now and it’s holding up so far. Can do any movement that a functional trainer can do. The rack is a little narrow but I still do flys. The plate loaded version is smooth especially when the weight is even but still decent when sides are not perfectly even. Loading plates is obviously a little more tedious than having a stack but doesn’t bother me. Overall I like the system and use it nearly every day. I have enough room to do barbell lifting inside the cage with saftey pipes and landmine use to the side. Works well and saves space.

My custom, compact (wall-supported) 3-tower functional trainer employs REP's PR-5000 rack components and three Athena selectorized side-mount cable attachments. Various spacing between the columns provides multiple cable widths for virtually any dual-cable ISO arm, shoulder, back or chest exercises; or linking 1 & 2 together for heavy pulls. Multiple cables also allow quickly moving from high to low, bicep and tricep work, or different attachments. Custom (prototype) lever arms are fully adjustable for height and angles to do various pressing and pulling movements and use the trolleys positioned either above or below the arms for convenient selectorized resistance rather than plates.
The Athena cable kits are super smooth, quiet and frictionless, resulting in a noticeably more effective exercise with no stick-tion or momentum effects. Fit and finish and packaging were flawless. Very satisfied with REP's service and these cable kits !
