Description

The AB-3000 2.0 is a flat-incline-decline bench built for stability, comfort, and long-term use. It features updated CleanGrip pads, a squared-off back pad for better support, and a reversible seat for improved comfort. With eight back pad angles and five seat positions, the bench adjusts quickly and quietly using a ladder-style system with laser-cut numbering. The wide rear base adds stability and allows deeper rack positioning for better pressing performance.

Features

Updated, Built-In Leg Roller: Leg rollers on the AB-3000 2.0 can be moved farther back for better clearance and farther forward than the original design for more comfort in decline. They can also be locked into any of the six positions while doing decline sit-ups and incline bench.
Improved Stability: Updated front and rear bases with rubber covers provide more grip to the floor and keep your flooring protected. The rear base is also wider to enhance side-to-side stability.
Versatile: Along with added leg roller positions, the AB-3000 2.0 now has eight back pad positions, which are now common degree angles most people prefer and are proven to provide a more effective workout. It also features laser-cut numbering along the ladder to easily show what angle you’re setting your back pad at.
Updated Pads: The new CleanGrip™ pads are denser to ensure durability and have more grip than the previous version. They are also easier to clean. The smaller perforations trap less dirt and debris. We also provided an updated, squared-off back pad to increase the surface area for increased back support.
Updated Handle: The horizontal handle on the updated leg attachment stays out of the way when you’re lifting and makes the bench easier to move around your gym.

It’s a great bench that’s nearly perfect. I love the adjustability and versatility. My complaints are minor. First, the REP logo next to the handle to move the bench is too close. The logo puts pressure on the back of my hand and wrist when I have to move the bench. Since the bench weighs a ton, it’s not a great feeling. The other complaint is that the bench doesn’t stand up well. It stands, but easily falls over or leans too far forward or back to be stable. If you don’t need to move the bench much, neither of these are an issue. If you’ve got a small space and need to move your bench often, these are a pain.

Everything I wanted and more

This bench does the basics exceedingly well. It has numerous back and seat angles, adjustable leg rollers, and firm yet comfortable pads. It feels rock-solid stable in every position I've tried, which is exactly what I'd expect from a bench with a nameplate weight capacity of 1000 lbs.

But beyond the basics, it's the little details that speak to this bench's thoughtful design, such as the easy-to-clean vinyl, the dual-pin system for the leg rollers (watch REP's overview video for an explanation), the laser-cut angle numbers, and the noise dampeners on the ladder system. The REP engineers really outdid themselves with this one.

There are only two aspects of this bench that are worth calling out as potential flaws. The first is the lack of "official" vertical storage. I put "official" in quotes because many AB-3000 2.0 owners do in fact store the bench vertically, but to me it feels a little precarious in that position. If vertical storage is a must-have for you, I'd recommend watching some Youtube videos showing the bench stored vertically to decide if you'd feel comfortable doing the same.

The other potential flaw is the pad gap, which measures 2.1", slightly larger than that of the AB-3100 (1.7") or the Nighthawk (1.57"). I personally never even notice the pad gap, but I mention it here for the sake of completeness.

For my needs and preferences, this is a 10/10 bench. I couldn't be happier with it.

Excellent Design, Quality, and Value

I've been lifting for more than 50 years and have seen a lot of fitness gear in many years of travel. I'm very happy with this bench here in my home gym. It's an excellent design as far as functionality and aethetics. Assembly was easy with all parts fitting perfectly and excellent quality workmanship.

I enjoy the ability to have a stable and versatile bench in a nice footprint. Despite it's heavy duty construction, it's not overly heavy or difficult to move around as needed. Thank you!

Is it possible to dampen the seat and foot mount noise when doing decline sit-ups

I give 5 stars for the upgrade and solid construction, sturdiness, and seat material for the bench.

But I give 4 stars when it comes down to the sound the seat makes. Let me explain. It was brilliant that noise dampeners were installed for the seat's ladder. However, when I am doing decline sit-ups where I adjust the seat by raising the seat and declining the back rest so the bench is at a straight -12 degree angle, the seat and foot rest clangs every time I raise and lower myself. My feet are locked in the foot mounts. Whenever I lower myself, the foot mount and seat rises and makes a noise (clang). When I raise myself back up, the foot mount and seat makes the same noise (clang) again. Doing 10 sit-ups produces 20 metal clangs. Imagine how much clangs 100 sit-ups make :| Is there a way to dampen this noise? Maybe silicone bushings around the peg holes? Thanks.

I am loving this adjustable bench! I don't know why, but I was a little surprised with how heavy the shipping box was. There is a reason for it... this thing is a quality build, and it will no doubt last a very long time. Assembly was very simple and quick, maybe 20 minutes. I like the width and firmness of the pads. It provides a solid base to push from when benching. Switching between flat, incline, and decline is super quick and easy and so is changing the angle of the seat. Adding this to my home gym has opened up a variety of new exercises that I could not do before with only a standard flat bench. It also looks really nice. It definitely looks like a high quality piece of equipment!
